A whimsical and highly stylized 1926 original illustration by Brooklyn New York artist Clarence “Polly” Hill. An 18th Century Style French corseted Courtesan and her attendant. This work was seemingly originally intended for a perfume or toiletry commission. Similar in style to Brunellesci, George Lepape, Eduardo Benito, George Plank and Erte whose work appeared in such periodicals as Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair and Vogue magazines.

A whimsical and stylized rare original gouache painting on illustration board by Anne Harriet Sefton a.k.a. Fish; this was the cover for The April 1919 edition of Vanity Fair Magazine published by Conde Nast. Work is in the humorous yet refined swinging youth style that came to personify the art deco Jazz Age. Painting is silk matted and beautifully framed in a period antique gold gilt wood frame under glass.

This alluring jazz age portrait of Evelyn Brent by Rolf Armstrong of silent film star Evelyn Brent was commissioned as original artwork for the cover of the March 1930 issue of Screenland Magazine. Armstrong executed a series of covers for this title between 1929 – 1930; he once remarked that Brent had the most perfect face he had ever portrayed. Pastel is matted and framed behind glass and in a fine state of original conservation.
