A large original oil on canvas by F. R. Harper. Born in 1876 in Rock Island, Illinois, Harper studied in New York and traveled extensively in Europe prior to returning to Chicago in 1908. The artist studied at the Art Institute of Chicago with William Chase and Robert Henrich and his work was frequently exhibited there and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

This circa 1925 oil on canvas was used as calendar art by The American Art Works Calendar Company. A framed vintage published print is included with purchase of painting. This is a wonderful view of the picturesque Hudson River in upstate New York and really is a fine example of the artist’s calendar work.
