An exceptional pastel rendering of a costumed Ziegfeld Follies showgirl by the American illustrator Charles Sheldon. Pastel is double matted and framed in a handsome carved wood frame under glass.
The model could be Gloria Swanson, who posed for Sheldon often, and was one of his more vibrant sitters, embodying the charm and wild child life of the roaring 20s. Below, for reference is a photograph Sheldon took of the model taken during this very sitting.
