A delightful original pastel by Charles Sheldon of a lavishly-attired model (thought by many to be Gloria Swanson) posed in the style of a Follies showgirl, bathed in red light. Double matted and framed in a period Art Deco gesso wood painted frame. This is an unusual view of the roaring 20s icon, posed directly by Sheldon, and in his whimsical manner. For reference is a scan of the model posed for this portrait and photographed by the artist.
