A smart and crisp c.1930 pastel by frequent Golden Age of Hollywood movie magazine cover artist Mila Baine, showing a rediant and stylish Norma Shearer. Likely a cover for the title Movie Mirror, where Blaine did numerous commissioned cover works in the early 1930s. From the collection of Ken Galente, former owner of Silver Screen Gallery in New York City. Handsomely matted and framed behind glass in a fine period frame.

Mila Baine was one of many successful illustrators commissioned to contribute cover art for Hollywood leading ladies during the 1920s - 30s. Titles like Photoplay, Silver Screen, and a host of more obscure titles competed for the talents of Rolf Armstrong, Earl Christy, Marland Stone, Zoe Mozert, Charles Sheldon Alberto Vargas to create a shimmering vision of Hollywood glamour for the magazine market.
