jazz age

A roaring 20’s flapper girl in a tophat tames a pair of tigers with her feminine guiles. Most likely a cover for a spicy pulp or early vaudeville era magazine. Artwork is mindful of similar covers by Earle K . Bergey, Otto Grenier or H.J. Ward. Like much pulp cover art, this work is unsigned.

A rare original pastel portrait of Mary Wesson, the silent movie star and of Smith & Wesson Family fame, by Charles Sheldon. The pastel comes with the original photograph taken by Sheldon of his posed model. This image captures the carnival like atmosphere of the jazz age. Framed in a period 1920’s gesso wooden “step-frame”.
