Mystery and Style, the Work of Daniel Content

Offered here is a vintage and original gouache on board illustration created by artist and illustrator Daniel Content. Dating to the 1940s, this comes from later in Content’s career as a creator of published works. He would, in the 1950s, transition from artist to art director.

Filled with mystery and intrigue, this colorful illustration shows a stylish, red-lipped woman wearing a hat with a net veil that lays over her inquisitive blue eyes. She glances over her shoulder to take in the view of a man in profile and a lounging cat. The man himself appears distracted as he gazes at an atmospheric and ethereal view of a woman’s profile that blends in with the background.

This is likely a published piece, probably for a glossy magazine, but we have been unable to identify the exact usage at this time.
