Grapefruit Moon Gallery is pleased to have the opportunity to once again offer for sale this 1949 Western Americana cowgirl themed gouache on illustration board from the archives of Stecher-Traung & Schmidt. The 100-year-old San Francisco ad agency/lithography company was an multi-service printing and advertising agency, known for their hard-drinking, familial atmosphere, and their eye for talent. The work is in the style of George Petty and Ben-Hur Baz. Among other noted artists Stecher-Traug employed Gil Elvgren, E.B. Segner, and Mary Mayo. This commissioned illustration is dated and inkstamped in the lower corner but is unsigned. The sharp shooting pin up girl in two piece Annie Oakley inspired outfit is pure cheesecake. Work is beautifully framed and matted in a period ornate gesso frame.
