Gil Elvgren and Brown and Bigelow

Gil Elvgren created this original oil on canvas for the 1948 Brown and Bigelow calendar line. The storied Minnesota-based company published the image with the colorful title “He Was Neither A Gentleman Nor A Sculler”. The artwork shows pretty young pin-up girl sitting on a dockĀ in a tight fitting yellow dress, soaked head to tow after a memorable day out on the water… This unframed oil on stretched canvas painting is in pristine untouched original condition on original stretcher bars. A published Brown & Bigelow advertising blotter of the image is included in the sale.
