A large format, technically adept, and satirical advertising illustration by the Minneapolis artist G.R. Cheesebrough. This is titled “The Tourist” and fittingly was created as an advertisement for Venture Travel in May of 1977. We love the stylized humorous mid-century 1970s aesthetic; the attention to detail makes this a time capsule of sorts, and a delightful one at that. But in a way, it’s also timeless; haven’t we all seen that couple on vacation? Illustration has original matting with a name plaque and a dated certificate of authenticity attached to the verso cardboard backing.

G.R. Cheesebrough, an illustrator from the Twin Cities in Minneapolis.
An artist with rising national statue who combines superb technical prowess with a fine sense of humor. His unique characterizations of everyday people create prints appealing to all who encounter them.
Cheesebrough believes that there is a little bit of us all in his drawings, and we agree that you might find it difficult not to discover yourself, or someone you know, among the people who populate ‘his world’..
