This dark and mesmerizing oil painting was created as cover art for the 1955 Pyramid paperback book title For I Have Sinned – The Confession Of A Paris Streetwalker by Ruth Sachs. The image shows a pretty brunette perched at her vanity as she readies herself to face the darkness hidden in Paris, the city of light. The story was a tell all cautionary tale of depravity and degradation – where the price she charged was nothing compared to the price she paid… This painting is unsigned we are quite certain it was painted by Victor Olson, it was purchased by the previous owner in the 1980s from Charles Martignette when he was still living in Boston. Nicely matted and framed under glass and ready to hang. A copy of the published book is included in the sale.
