Grapefruit Moon Gallery is proud to announce we are highlighting Marilyn Monroe for the month of April. We will be listing several important photographs from five of her most interesting photo sessions, images of the greatest star of Hollywood’s Golden Era. These span the period, from a 1947 Blue Book Model Agency advertising photo featuring a newly-named Marilyn to a 1962 image from “Something’s Got to Give” capturing the bombshell during the filming of her last, uncompleted movie. Other photographs include publicity shots from Monroe’s first staring role in “Ladies of the Chorus” and her sex symbol turn in “The Seven Year Itch” and an oversized backstage candid featuring Marilyn dressing for opening night of Broadway’s “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” A truly remarkable collection of iconic moments from Marilyn’s blonde bombshell life: her early modeling days, first film, iconic sex symbol role, attempt at a ‘serious’ acting career on Broadway, and a hand colored photograph taken mere days before her death.
