A whimsical oil on canvas by long time Cream of Wheat illustrator Edward Vincent Brewer created for their 1923 advertising. In this artwork, one of Brewer’s own children is seen poignantly posed outside the Cream of Wheat Inn, watching the chef at work. This image is a timeless and rich piece of Americana from the archives of the Cream of Wheat advertising vaults, and has never been publicly offered for sale. One of the most idyllic and tender artworks in the collection. This new to the market artwork is in pristine archived condition.

A clever and playful oil on canvas by Edward Vincent Brewer. This 1922 Cream of Wheat advertising painting titled “The Filling Station” features a young cherubic lad on a soap box derby car devised from a Cream of Wheat crate. Iconic chef “Rastus” is posed in the doorway of The Cream of Wheat Inn, a prop Brewer used in many of these Americana themed works. The “Inn” was actually Brewer’s St Paul MN studio on his Mississippi River bluff estate. Brewer purchased the former Lake Street bridge keepers house to use as a studio. The Lake Street Bridge is one of the iconic Minnesota landmarks which runs over the mighty Mississippi that divides Minneapolis and Saint Paul.Framed in a period 1920’s Arts & Crafts aesthetic antique oak frame.

Leyendecker, and James Montgomery Flagg. A spirited Thanksgiving holiday advertising illustration by John G. Scott. This original gouache was commissioned by the Cream of Wheat company for their 1923 holiday promotion. The image depicts a pair of cherubic young pilgrims with plenty to be thankful for. This has a J.C. Leyendecker inspired sensibility, and is nicely matted and framed. The work comes with a printed full page tear sheet of published art.
