A haunting and dramatically executed cover for The American Weekly series, Visions of an Artist, circa 1937. This was one of several American Weekly series that Clive was commissioned to illustrate.
This particular series seems to artistically “feminize” natural disasters. Clive carried the momentum of the torando chaos down to his signature in almost a Dali fashion.
This is in excellent condition although it does have some very minor rubbing near the signature. Although I do not have the original tear sheet for this image, I will include a cover piece from the same series. This piece retains the gallery tag clearly identifying it as part of the Visions of an Artist series.
