A signed and dated ’40 by B.W. Rockey cover for Lariat Story, a western-themed long running pulp publication. Rockey is an illustration artist who did several classic pulp covers with Western, Gangster and Detective themes. Works from his estate surfaced in Kansas City in 1996 this is a great example of the rough and tumble western genre with great attention payed in the detailing of both the cowboy and his snorting horse. The Medium is oil on canvas mounted on board with printer’s notations on the reverse. which appear to read Larait Story as well as 4 Color separation, prints on copper/stock cover. Work is beautifully framed and in excellent condition.
