A beautiful original late 1920s pen and ink drawing by Cardwell Higgins titled “Playthings of Eternity.” The artist created a series of these noir black and white fantasy illustrative costumed art deco pen & ink drawings between the years of 1927 – 1929 exploring late 19th century mysticism, ala William Blake.  These have a psychedelic, psychological allure, and are homages in many regards to the artworks of Aubrey Beardsley and Harry Clarke. Nicely Framed under glass in an art deco aesthetic gallery frame – this is a stunning example from the early years of this illustrator’s prolific career.
