A Christmas holiday themed dazzling original gouache calendar illustration by Bill Layne for The Brown & Bigelow Calendar Company. Layne created calendar paintings specific of the commissioned advertising account. This was for a pharmacy drugstore account and appeared on a Christmas Holiday Calendar in 1953.
Layne worked for Walt Disney in the art department creating story board graphics and design embellishments which is apparent here in his twinkling Tinkerbell fairy goddess depiction seen in this work.
Gouache painting is matted and framed behind glass in a simple wood frame.
Bill Layne was a prolific and influential Walt Disney Studio’s commercial illustrator who also created hundreds of commissioned images for the Brown & Bigelow Calendar Company and was one of their last true stars. A unique talent that is just starting to fine traction among today’s forward looking collectors and dealers.
