A signed original pastel on illustration board from the late 1930’s by the prolific cover artist and pin-up illustrator Cardwell Higgins of an oddly alluring modernist blonde showgirl. We believe this to be a cover for a short lived publication titled Modern Girl Book Magazine which was essentially a bed-sheet sized spicy pulp publication with a very short run and small circulation. We have a companion pastel by Higgins of a brunette in the same format and similar pose that we will be adding to our gallery shortly. We were able to find the published tear sheet cover to match that piece archived in the artist’s scrapbook, which we acquired several years ago at Charles Martignette’s estate auction in Florida. We have every reason to believe this to be a published work from the same title.

In a fabulous state or untouched original conservation nicely matted and framed behind glass and ready to enjoy.
