A delightful original pastel by Charles Sheldon of a lavishly-attired Gloria Swanson posed in the style of a Follies Showgirl, bathed in red light. Double matted and framed in a period art deco gesso wood painted frame. This is an unusual view of the roaring 20s icon, posed directly by Sheldon, and in his whimsical manner. For reference is a scan of Swanson posed for this portrait and photographed by the artist.
