Two Old West ladies of the night jiggle at gunpoint, alongside snakes, lizards and spiders, as a hooded villian creeps around the corner to rob a bank.

It is a modernized, hyper sexualized yet quaint look at the old West abounding with cowboy hats and spurs.

The charm of the Mexican Movie art genre shines through with this homage to and reenvisioning of low American b-movie culture and popular cheesecake illustration.

Grapefruit Moon Gallery is pleased to offer this collection of vintage 1970's-1980's original commissioned illustrations for the Mexican movie industry.

These gouache paintings borrow from and expand upon the style and iconography of lurid and spicy pulp fiction illustrations. Damsels in distress, vampires, and noir crime scenes abound in these striking illustrations.

Recently, there has been a burgeoning interest in Mexican calendar, poster, and movie art, and the potential for this new to the market genre is only going to continue to grow!
